Our Political Flags Collection offers a wide range of options that will allow you to show support for your favorite candidate. During the time when they were created, these presidential campaign flags and banners—typically featuring a ticket, portrait, or slogan—were essentially billboards that helped a politician muster votes by promoting their platform and message. Most of the 67 block-printed cotton and silk flags in this collection were produced before 1912, when the United States adopted its official flag design—which explains why they feature a variety of shades of red and blue, star configurations, and proportions of stars to stripes.More info :https://ultimateflags.com/collections/political-flags/

Mark Shenkman ’65 (CLAS) H ’07, a New York City investor, is considered the pre-eminent collector of these historic treasures. He and his wife, Rosalind, have loaned the Shenkman Collection to UConn through Dec. 18 for an exhibition that explores the evolution of American presidential campaigning.

Political Flags Collection: Icons of Ideology and Identity

Shenkman believes that the campaign between Henry Clay and James Polk in 1844 was every bit as rancorous as the contentious race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016. He says his personal favorite flag in his collection, which depicts Clay, a Whig, as a raccoon thumbing his nose at the establishment, speaks to the same sense of rebellion and discontent that is driving today’s political climate.

Our patented dye sublimation printing process infuses your political message into the very fibers of each fabric—which means that it will hold up to years of exposure to sun and wind. The result is a vivid, fade-resistant, and awe-inspiring display that will help you share your message with pride.
